You have an innovative idea, a unique perspective, or want to share cost/time sharing tips. How do you go about turning these into a presentation? The unique point-of-view of new members and new professionals is a valuable perspective worthy of being shared with colleagues and the profession.

But, presenting at a conference can be a daunting task, particularly as a new member who may be only beginning to understand and navigate the culture and etiquette of conferences. What are the expectations? Which section should I submit my idea to? Do I want to present alone or develop a panel? What do people wear? How should I handle questions I can’t answer? How do I get my poster to the conference city without creasing or losing it?

Join the ALCTS New Member Interest Group and your peers as we discuss these topics, share experiences and tips, and answer questions. Focus will be on presenting at ALA, but we’ll also discuss general tips that would be applicable to presentations in other contexts.

Come with your questions and be prepared for a fun and enlightening chat!  Emily Sanford, ALCTS New Members Interest Group (ANMIG) Co-Chair Elect, will be your host along with the assistance of Deana Groves, ANMIG Web CoordinatorThe chat will be on March 27th from 2:00pm – 3:00pm EST and is open to ALA members of all types.  To join the chat:
