The ASCLA Library Consultant Interest Group (LCIG) is only in the second year as an interest group and does not have "traditional meeting times." Help us to determine programs that will fit the needs of our LCIG members by responding to the questions below.
At Midwinter Conferences LCIG sponsors a Discussion Forum followed by the LCIG Leadership Team meeting. The 2013 ALA Midwinter conference is in Seattle January 25-29. The LCIG Discussion Forum on the topic of "ethical issues confronted by library consultants in their work" will include some experienced consultants sharing experiences followed by questions and discussion. Everyone is invited to stay for the LCIG Leadership Team meeting. The tentative time for the LCIG Discussion Forum is Sunday January 27 from 4:00 to 5:30.

At the Seattle Midwinter Conference there may also be a ticketed special event lunch for library consultants. Look for more information closer to the conference dates.
Looking forward to the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago June 27-July2, the LCIG will sponsor a pre-conference and three conference programs. The LCIG Leadership Team will meet at the ASCLA All Committee meeting. The tentative LCIG events include:

PROGRAM 4: Making More Effective Decisions
Description: The pace of change is accelerating, and the decision-making stakes are
higher than ever. Given the pressures of time, finances, and transparency, our go-to
methods of decision-making just aren’t cutting it anymore. Consultants and change
agents Joan Frye Williams and George Needham offer proven techniques for making
effective decisions more nimbly and confidently. You will leave this session prepared to
choose wisely and well in a changing environment.

PROGRAM 5: Do Those Numbers Mean Anything?
Description: The quality and rigor of program evaluation in library services lags
behind other related fields, including education and social services. The problem is
complex as it involves technical, administrative and cultural challenges. In this session,
staff from the Institute of Museum and Library Services Office of Planning, Research
and Evaluation will discuss strategies for improving the capacity of libraries to use
evaluation by creating a network linking those producing evaluation with those who use
the information to make better decisions.

PROGRAM 6: Consultants Giving Back
Description: Consultants Giving Back is an opportunity for consultants to offer free
consulting to the library community and for librarians to have up to 30 minutes to share
concerns and get ideas and advice.
Time: Sunday 6/30, 1:00-5:30
