HI all:
YIKES! Is Midwinter really starting this week???? <insert - full panic mode>
If you are like me and firming up your schedule for MW, please consider attending Council Fora. We will have three opportunities. I will be facilitating all three.
For those new to Council, Council Fora (multiple of Forum) is an organic, informal gathering of Councilors and movers of resolutions. My pledge, as this conferences' facilitator, will be to provide a safe environment where everyone may speak and that all voices will be heard.
This one hour optional, information only gathering allows for:
- Councilors to ask questions about policies, procedures, or Robert's Rules of Order related to Council or ALA in general
- Networking with other Councilors who one often does not get a chance
- Resolution makers to get feedback from Council Colleagues on resolutions they will be bringing to Council for consideration
- Councilors to get their questions answered regarding resolutions or issues that will be brought before Council for consideration.
What Council Forum is NOT:
- A replacement for debate on the Council Floor
- A place to decide the fate of resolutions
- a "shadow" council
So, come if you can and no worries if you cannot! We will provide brief essence notes of items discussed through the Council Listserv. I will ask for someone to take notes once we are gathered.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanking you in advance for the excellent work you will do this MW Conference! And... safe travels!
