  • 1.  Call for Nominations: 2020-2023 Executive Board Members due Oct. 25, 2019

    Dear Councilors,

    On behalf of Julius C. Jefferson, Jr. 2019-2020 President-elect, the ALA Council's Committee on Committees (COC) will soon begin its task of determining six (6) Council nominees to run for three (3) positions on the ALA Executive Board. 

     

    The purpose of this post is to encourage any of you who may be interested in being considered to let us know of your interest.  Click here for the "job description" of ALA Board Member.

     

    This election will take place at the 2020 Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.  The first three (3) candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to 3-year terms (2020-2023). Newly elected Executive Board members will begin their term at the conclusion of the Annual Conference June 25-30, 2020 in Chicago, IL. 

     

    Per ALA bylaws, Article III. Nominations and Elections, Section 6. C., "Candidates shall be nominated from among the members of the Council who are serving by virtue of election to it, as provided in Article IV, Section 2.b., c., d., and e. of the Bylaws, and who will have served at the midwinter meeting and the annual conference immediately preceding their prospective terms as Executive Board Members. Additional nominations for the Executive Board may be made by Councilors from the floor."

     

    The members of the 2019-2020 Committee on Committees (COC) are Oscar Baeza, Johana Orellana Cabrera, Ana Elisa De Campos Salles, and Raymond Pun.  As ALA President-elect, Julius Jefferson, Jr. serves as COC chair.
