The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hello!

    If you have either left or thought about leaving your job in a public library at any time since 2020 because of book and/or program challenges, we want to hear from you! 

    We are a group of researchers from the University of Kentucky and Wayne State University conducting a survey about public librarians who have left the profession due to book, display, and/or program challenges.

    We are interested in hearing from people who, due to book, display, and/or program challenges:

    ·         left their job voluntarily (i.e., resigned or retired);

    ·         left their job involuntarily (i.e., were fired/dismissed or did not have their contracts renewed);

    ·         or are currently thinking about leaving their job.

    Whether you moved into a different position in a public library, transitioned to working in another type of library, or have left librarianship altogether, we'd like to hear about your experiences.

    The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. If you agree to participate, please complete the survey at: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d0z4RwzYf74x89M

    The survey is anonymous unless you choose to share your contact information, and we will not use any identifying information about you while reporting the findings from this research.

    At the end of the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter your name in a draw for 1 of 3 $250 gift cards.

    We would also appreciate your help in forwarding the survey link to others who may be thinking about leaving or have already left their public library job.
