    Greetings ALA Councilors,

Attached are the Guidelines for the preparation and submission of Resolutions, Memorials, and Tributes for the ALA Council Meetings scheduled during the 2025 LibLearnX in Phoenix, AZ. Any councilor, accompanied by a seconder, may propose a resolution for consideration at the Council Meetings, if it has been reviewed by the ALA Resolutions Committee. All resolutions must be submitted to the ALA Resolutions Committee at alaresolutions@ala.org no later than forty-eight (48) hours before the meeting begins. Adhering to this deadline will ensure that the final resolutions are published by the Governance Officer (Marsha Burgess at mburgess@ala.org) within twenty-four (24) hours of the meeting's start.

When presenting a resolution to the Resolutions Committee for evaluation, it is essential for the proposers to complete and submit the Resolution e-Form available here. There may be cases where specific sections of the e-form are not applicable, so please ensure that all relevant parts are filled out comprehensively. Your contributions are vital in facilitating a quicker resolution process.

To ensure that other Councilors have sufficient time to review your resolution, please submit your proposed resolution as a "Document" to the ALA Council community at ala-council@connectedcommunity.org.

For questions related to Resolutions, Memorials, and Tributes, please reach out to Jim DelRosso, the chair of the Resolutions Committee, at alaresolutions@ala.org. The committee will thoroughly review all submitted resolutions that have received a proposed and a seconded and may suggest modifications to enhance clarity and support the deliberative process of the body.

As a reminder: Throughout the year, councilors can submit ALA Resolutions to the ALA Resolutions Committee at alaresolutions@ala.org for evaluation. After the review process and any required correspondence, the resolutions will be included in the agenda for the upcoming Council or Membership meeting.

    Thanks,

Jim DelRosso, ALA Resolutions Committee Chair (2024-2025)
