This space is for all those interested in updates and discussion regarding Transforming ALA Governance. This space was originally created to share the work of the Steering Committee on Organizational Effectiveness (SCOE) who was charged in June 2018 to carry out a comprehensive review and study of ALA’s governance, member participation and legal structures and systems, with the goal of proposing changes that will vitalize its success, strength and agility as a 21st century association. The results of this committee are the Forward Together recommendations.
  • 1.  ALA Winter Meeting

    Greetings!
In the past there had been discussion about the status of the ALA Winter Meeting.
I noticed in the slides on "Planning & Engagement Leadership Assemblies" that the groups would meet at Winter Meeting.
Does this mean that Winter Meeting will continue to be part of the ALA meeting cycle?

    Thank You.

    Hi Jackie!

We have been working with the information on Midwinter provided to us by the Conference Committee -- Ultimately, that there will be a winter or midwinter "Event" that will allow room for necessary governance and committee proceedings. The exact nature of this event is not within SCOE's purview, we just know that we will still have the space for face to face interactions. I believe more information on Midwinter can be heard at the Conference Committee meeting on Saturday.

    Hope that helps!
