Thanks to all who participated in our New Division E-Forum, which took place on November 27 and 28, 2018. Great conversations took place in the forum, and the communications working group wants to make sure that those conversations can continue! Please take part in this thread and the other six (linked below), and respond to anything that catches your attention.
The Other Discussion Threads:
Q2: What should we take forward?
Q3: What should we leave behind?
Q4: Much Excite!
Q5: Future Membership Benefits
Q6: Finding Your Home
Q7: Continuing the Conversation
This is Thread Q1: Current Membership Benefits
Which division(s) are you a member of (ALCTS, LITA or LLAMA), and why did you choose to join? If you're a member of multiple divisions, what has made those memberships valuable and unique?
Forum Responses:
A number of members with multiple memberships spoke up, and many other members mentioned having held additional memberships in the past that they had given up due to financial constraints or changes in job duties that no longer aligned with the division. Many people spoke to the financial aspects of multiple memberships, recognizing that they would probably benefit from belonging to other divisions but that it's not financially feasible.
A majority of participants on this topic in the e-forum reflected on the fact that they joined their division seeking additional professional development opportunities specific to their job duties. Many others mentioned finding a meaningful and useful network of like-minded peers once they became involved in their division.
