ALCTS LLAMA LITA Alignment Discussion

last person joined: 4 months ago

A community for discussing the potential alignment of ALA's functional divisions (currently ALCTS, LLAMA, and LITA). Whether this would be a model for increased collaboration between the divisions or something bigger involving shared/joint membership and structural realignments, or even a full merger to a new single division, has not been decided.

Thanks to all who participated in our New Division E-Forum, which took place on November 27 and 28, 2018. Great conversations took place in the forum, and the communications working group wants to make sure that those conversations can continue! Please take part in this thread and the other six (linked below), and respond to anything that catches your attention.

    The Other Discussion Threads:

This is Thread Q4: Much Excite!

What possibilities excite you most about the prospect of a new division? What potential do you see in a new division?

    Forum Responses:

We discussed what we don't want to lose, and what we want to improve on - so what's exciting about a potential merger? Conversation on this topic focused on the financial savings that would come from a merged division, and excitement for the additional resources and opportunities for service, professional development, and networking that would come with a merged new division.
