Thanks to all who participated in our New Division E-Forum, which took place on November 27 and 28, 2018. Great conversations took place in the forum, and the communications working group wants to make sure that those conversations can continue! Please take part in this thread and the other six (linked below), and respond to anything that catches your attention.

    The Other Discussion Threads:

    Q1: Current Membership Perks

Q3: What should we leave behind?

    Q4: Much Excite!

    Q5: Future Membership Benefits

    Q6: Finding Your Home

    Q7: Continuing the Conversation

This is Thread Q2: What should we take forward?

What aspects of your current division do you like? Do you think they could be carried over to the new division? What would you most hate to lose if a new division were formed?

    Forum Responses:

The number one division strength mentioned across the board was strong continuing education, whether that be through webinars, eForums, LITA Forum, or programs specific to the focus of the division. Generally, the individual divisions do an excellent job of providing content and forums for members to connect on issues of particular interest, and there was concern expressed that these niche areas of interest may be lost in the shuffle if the three divisions merge into one.

Many people stressed the value of finding their "tribe" in their division and expressed that they would hate for that to be lost in a merger. Another area of strength for LITA and ALCTS was the ability to serve or volunteer for the division, for which there is great concern that these opportunities continue.
