ALCTS LLAMA LITA Alignment Discussion

last person joined: 4 months ago

A community for discussing the potential alignment of ALA's functional divisions (currently ALCTS, LLAMA, and LITA). Whether this would be a model for increased collaboration between the divisions or something bigger involving shared/joint membership and structural realignments, or even a full merger to a new single division, has not been decided.

Thanks to all who participated in our New Division E-Forum, which took place on November 27 and 28, 2018. Great conversations took place in the forum, and the communications working group wants to make sure that those conversations can continue! Please take part in this thread and the other six (linked below), and respond to anything that catches your attention.

    The Other Discussion Threads:

    Q1: Current Membership Perks

Q2: What should we take forward?

Q3: What should we leave behind?

    Q4: Much Excite!

    Q5: Future Membership Benefits

    Q6: Finding Your Home

This is Thread Q7: Continuing the Conversation

The Communications Working Group wants to keep this conversation going past today.

What other new division topics would you like to see discussed? What's a good method for having that discussion?

What questions do you have? How can the Communications Working Group better reach you?

    Forum Responses:

When asked what the best communication methods might be for sharing information as the new division conversations continue, ALA Connect/email was the preferred method. It was also suggested that further e-Forums, or moderated phone/web discussions, could be used to have continued conversation as the process moves forward.
