Thank you, ALCTS, LITA, and LLAMA, for starting this conversation. Every year I get my renewal for ALA, I struggle in deciding which Division(s) to choose for membership. I can only afford one, so I typically choose ALCTS. But I have very strong interests in LITA and LLAMA.
I keep coming to back to the "ALA - Organizational Effectiveness Discussion - MW18 final.pdf" document, and a statement made within "Finding Statement #9" which talks about how our diversity is our strength. However, new members (and continuing members, too) can easily get lost in the plethora of choices.
I think the key might be building on that strength of diversity.
In any university, the strongest departments, I believe, are those where there is cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Not sure how this could play out, but one idea I had was maybe we can find a few "themes" where LITA, ALCTS, and LLAMA can start collaborating and see what happens.
