IMPORTANT COUNCIL MESSAGE FOR SHARING MEETING INFORMATION

  • 1.  IMPORTANT COUNCIL MESSAGE FOR SHARING MEETING INFORMATION

    Posted Jan 24, 2021 07:59 PM

    Hello Councilors,

Today, Council Forum II was hacked by intruders who posted inappropriate messages in chat. ALA was alerted that the scheduled Zoom link was posted online, via Twitter. We ask that you do not share the links via social media as this opens the door for anyone (including unwanted guests) to join our meetings. Unfortunately, meetings are disrupted by people with malicious intent who search social media for unprotected meetings.

As a reminder, ALA seeks to provide a conference environment in which diverse participants may learn, network and enjoy the company of colleagues in an environment of mutual human respect. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and hold that environment for the benefit of all.

For Council Forum III, we've enabled the waiting room so please be patient as we will have to approve individuals for entry. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. We apologize for the disruption experienced at the Council Forum II. We will ensure that every effort is made to keep meeting environments safe.
