    Greetings Council,

Thank you to all who have taken time to provide feedback and ask questions regarding the recommendations that the Transforming ALA Governance Task Force has shared. I have attached the potential motions that we hope will receive Council's endorsement. Agreement on these concepts will be critical to moving towards transformation.

The motions are endorsements of concepts intended to further refine the direction of where we are headed while offering flexibility in creation of a final plan. Approval of the motions brings us a step closer to the goal, but amendments to any aspect of the plan can be made up to Council voting at the Annual Conference in June. To that end, virtual Council meetings will be scheduled in the next few months for further discussion and refinement.

The recommendations involving function and culture were not part of the structural models that have already been shared, but were part of the task force's discussions and were driving factors in the creation of the models.

While TAG has provided two structural models for consideration, TAG is endorsing the Advisory Council model and that is reflected in the third motion. There is language provided at the end of the document to amend the motion for a Leadership Assembly Model if Council opts to do so.

You will note that Action Item 3.5 extends the work of the TAG Taskforce "until the ALA Council deems that the TAG Task Force's work has been satisfactorily completed." The open ended time frame refrains from being too prescriptive, but the intention is that the task force's work would be completed at the end of ALA Annual in June 2022. Current members are willing to continue the work through Annual.

On behalf of the TAG Task Force, I look forward to the discussions ahead.

    Best,

    Amy Lappin

Transforming ALA Governance Task Force Chair
