Dear ALA Councilors,
Earlier this week I sent you information about registering for our governance events that are taking place virtually in January 2022. These events take place before and after (and are separate from) our new January event, LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience. But I sincerely hope you'll register to attend LibLearnX, as well.
LibLearnX is a completely new conference experience built from the ground up based on years of research, exploration, and feedback from ALA members, industry partners, and event planning experts. It replaces the traditional January ALA Midwinter Meeting and focuses on education, connection, and celebration. Plus this exciting members-only event is designed by library professionals for library professionals.
At LibLearnX, you'll participate in hands-on workshops, experience "bite-sized" learning events, and explore experiential learning - "learning by doing."
With more than 120 live and on-demand education sessions on a wide variety of topics, you'll participate in discussions and find solutions to the issues your library and your community is facing. And you'll bring back immediately actionable insights to your library.
Get ready to role-play scenarios to mitigate bullying with strategies borrowed from the nursing profession, participate in small group dialogues to explore the concept of neutrality and centering social justice at your library, and learn how one library found a successful solution to a long-term issue by creating a new "bite-sized" information literacy program for first-year college students.
Join us for this 4-day event designed to be interactive, intimate, and thoroughly invigorating.
Advanced registration rates are $189 for ALA members and $99 for student members through the month of November. Thereafter rates increase $30 in each category.
Also, if you are able to support an ALA Member wanting to attend LibLearnX, you can "Gift a Registration" and ALA will select and apply your generous gift to a member. ALA Members wishing to attend LibLearnX on a registration scholarship generously gifted by an ALA Member can fill out an application.
PS: If you aren't receiving email updates about LibLearnX, please be sure to sign up here.
I noticed the schedule for LibLearnX has Council I on Thursday and Council II on Friday, which is not the same as the dates below (Council 1 on Wednesday and Council II on Thursday).
