Hello Councilors,
In anticipation of the upcoming March 10, 2022 Council meeting, TAG will be holding a one hour virtual discussion of the motion from TAG on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. CT. From what we have heard up to this point, we imagine that most of the debate will be over whether to retain Council as a policy making body or shift to an advisory role. In the interest of using our time together efficiently, we are going to use a different approach than we have in the past.
After a brief introduction of the motion, we will invite six councilors to offer arguments either for or against the motion. We are looking for three people to advocate for retaining the Council as a policy making body and three to advocate for the advisory model. Each speaker will be given three minutes to present their case. We will alternate positions. After the six speakers are finished, we will use the rest of our time for questions or insights from other council members.
If you are interested in preparing and presenting a case on March 2 for either position, please let me know as soon as possible, but before Thursday, February 24, 2022. Preference will be given Councilors who previously haven't been heard from on this issue, but recognizing that we may not generate the interest of six people who haven't spoken, I welcome interest from all.
The TAG Task Force is looking forward to this discussion.
When: Mar 2, 2022 03:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
