  • 1.  Bios for Ballots

There are a couple different threads from today relating to how to better get to know each other but I wanted to draw out one point Julie Dietzel-Glair mentioned in the session this morning: having extremely brief personal statements to include in the at-large councilor ballot, to give candidates an opportunity to show voters why they deserve their vote.   While this will make the already long ballot longer, I think it could actually make it less daunting for voters, as a sea of names (which I for one routinely google with varying success) will be replaced with a list of people with a short statement of what their perspective and priorities.

I don't know if there will be a list of action items coming out of our discussion this morning but I wanted to ask here what steps that would require and who someone should go to if they wanted to discuss trying to get this change implemented.

    Thanks!

Thank you, Tara, for bringing this back up.

I would especially like to see this extremely brief bio (why should I vote for you statement) on the ballots we use directly in Council meetings. I'm talking about the ones like Sunday's PBA election. If we don't want to put the info directly on the ballot, perhaps there can be an accompanying page with this info. This accompanying page should be no longer than one page - and that one page (only one side of said page) should be able to contain the info for all Councilors on that particular ballot.

Thank you to my fellow Councilors that have pointed out that our roster has photos. Hey Councilors! If you haven't submitted that photo, please do so now.

Thank you also for those who have pointed out the linked info on ALA Connect. That is helpful for those who have completed that portion.

    Julie
