Dear Councilors,
Welcome to the newly seated councilors and welcome back to those who are returning. On behalf of the Council Orientation Committee, thank you for being willing to serve the American Library Association on Council. The ALA membership appreciates the important work you are doing for the association and the profession.
For those of you who are serving your first term on Council, we know that it can be a little overwhelming even for those who have served before. Instead of presenting a lot of information at one time just before you have your first Council meeting, we are planning a series of virtual events (Tune in Tuesdays) throughout the year addressing the different aspects of Council. Our first Tune in Tuesday will be held Tuesday, November 16th at 3:00pm (EST). During this town hall style of event, you will hear from current ALA President, Patty Wong; ALA Executive Director, Tracie D. Hall and the Governance Office staff along with Lorelle Swader, ALA/APA Associate Executive Director. You will have an opportunity to ask questions after their presentations. While this virtual event is open to all, it will be especially useful to first time councilors.
