    Greeting Council Members,

The ALA Conference Committee is hosting two Town Hall meetings at Midwinter to obtain feedback on a model for a potential new event to replace the Midwinter meeting in the future.  The Town Halls will be held on:

    • Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton, Cedar Room
    • Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheraton, Cedar Room
Members of the Conference Committee and Conference Services staff will be present at each Town Hall.  I have attached all the documents our committee received from Conference Services regarding the model.

Our committee will also discuss and provide input to Conference Services on the proposed model at our committee meeting held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:30 am to 12:30 p.m. in the Convention Center, Room 3B.

I have been asked to provide an update to Council on the 2018 New Orleans Conference remodel and current work on the Midwinter meeting, which I am pleased to do. I have not yet been advised of day/time.

    Regards,
    Clara Bohrer
    ALA Conference Committee Chair

    Clara,

Thank you for sharing this information about the Town Halls scheduled for ALA Midwinter 2019. Do you know if there will be any follow up for members to provide feedback on this, maybe online, who will not be able to attend these scheduled meetings at ALA Midwinter?

On member brought to my attention that the afternoon session is in conflict with the  Robin DiAngelo talk on White Fragility.

    Thanks,

    Erica

    Erica,

The answer to your question is yes.   I do plan to post the information in the General Members community in Connect sometime today.
