Greetings ALA Colleagues,
As mentioned in today's Tune-in Tuesday, here is a little homework to foster a shared experience at the next (Dec 28th) Tune-in Tuesday,
which will focus on Resolutions, please see the pre-meeting "homework" description below. Each of us (ALA Councilors or ALA Members) planning to be in attendance is invited to develop a resolution on the arbitrary homework topic below:
Homework: Please do the following as you step through the process of writing your draft version of a
Resolution to stop killing so many trees for ALA Council meetings:
- Review the contents and recommendations found in these ALA Resolutions Resources links:
- Background info to incorporate (or not) about why this arbitrary homework resolution would be proposed
- Several (many?) people have been talking about how terrible it is that so many copies of Council documents were going into recycle bins after the end of Council meetings
- We say one of our goals is sustainability, but we print far too many copies of Council Docs for the in person meetings
- We should stop printing so many copies of Council Docs
- Let's make a resolution to decrease printing for Council Meetings
- But Council documents are supposed to be available in advance of Council meetings
- Many Councilors bring their own computers, tablets, or smartphones to Council Meetings
- Let's stop printing so many copies of Council Documents
- First draft of this arbitrary homework resolution
- This is the homework action item - - > create a document and write your own first draft of the resolution
- teaser1: each of us (at Tune-in Tuesday 12/28 ) will have the opportunity to compare our draft(s) to a shared initial draft -- there will likely be a need for improvements
- teaser2: there will be a shared Google Doc (during Tune-in Tuesday 12/28) where your suggested edits will be invited
