You may have heard me mention at past meetings something about the Adlam script, in use for the Fula language.  This article goes into some detail about the process of how technical support for Adlam has been brought about.  Yale has been receiving books in Adlam through one of our vendors, and a draft Romanization table has been prepared.

How very lovely to see a story about a script featured! I had also stumbled on this advertised on Instagram, where I follow many bookish accounts.

I became aware of Adlam when looking into specifications for ISO 15924, Codes for the representation of names of scripts, as a part of a survey of scripts in use in libraries to show the value (and cool factor) of non-Latin language cataloging to a new administrator. Instead of saying "libraries have every language from A to Z," our punchy response was "libraries hold items in every script from Adlam to Zanabazar Square" with visual examples. We were pleased to get a positive response and enthusiasm for our continued work with non-Latin scripts.
