Updated: Congratulations to Jessica Hayden, the Metadata Interest Group's new liaison to the CC:DA!

Are you looking for a new way to get involved in ALA while
representing the interests of the metadata community? Consider serving
as the Metadata Interest Group liaison to the ALCTS/CaMMS/Committee on
    Cataloging: Description and Access!

CC:DA provides expertise on matters concerning descriptive cataloging
in order to formulate official ALA positions on cataloging policies
and standards and also to speak for ALA on issues related to
    descriptive cataloging.

From the CC:DA Orientation Doc <http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/?p=185>:

The role of liaisons is to represent various cataloging communities
by: (1) keeping the members of those communities informed of
activities relating to descriptive cataloging; (2) consulting members
of those communities on relevant issues that come before CC:DA; (3)
contributing their knowledge and opinions, as well as the knowledge
    and opinions of the communities they represent to CC:DA discussions;
and (4) participating on CC:DA Task Forces.

The Metadata Interest Group liaison would provide a vital voice in
bringing descriptive cataloging policy and practices into the linked
data world. Liaisons are expected to attend two half-day meetings at
both Midwinter and Annual (currently Saturday afternoon and Monday
morning), with the necessary prep work of reviewing documents that
will be presented and discussed at those meetings, plus following and
participating in the Committee's online discussions during much of the
    rest of the year.

Interested in learning more? Ready to volunteer? Please contact me
<jdmiller@gmail.com> or Robert Rendall <rr2205@columbia.edu>, the
chair of the CC:DA. More information about CC:DA can be found at
    <http://www.ala.org/alcts/mgrps/camms/cmtes/ats-ccscat>.

And a huge thanks to Nathan Putnam for his time (4 years!) as the
former Metadata Interest Group liaison to the CC:DA!

Sounds cool! What would I have to do?

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for your interest, but we've already chosen someone for the role. Sorry, I should've updated the post earlier to reflect that fact.
