The current statement of purpose in the CJCLS Governance Procedures at http://www.ala.org/acrl/aboutacrl/directoryofleadership/sections/cjcls/cjclswebsite/governance has a typo in this statement: "The ACRL Board ascertains that overlaps between the mandates are of various Sections are minimized."There is also another statement of purpose on the CJCLS web site at http://www.ala.org/acrl/aboutacrl/directoryofleadership/sections/cjcls/cjclswebsite/about that says:
Purpose
CJCLS serves to share common areas of interest to enhance library services and librarianship in libraries and resource centers in two-year institutions and to support the educational programs of these institutions. I will check with Megan Griffin who is the staff liaison to CJCLS to see if Board approval is still required for changes to the section Governance Procedures. When the Board transitioned Section bylaws to governance procedures, I think the final authority to approving any changes is the section executive committee.Update:
Only the section executive committee needs to approve revised governance procedures. They are then required to send me the new version for the official files.
No full membership vote or Board vote required, although it is suggested that they ask their full membership for comment regarding the proposed changes.Update:
Update from Megan Griffin (CJCLS staff liaison): No full membership vote or Board vote required to approve changes to section purpose/mission, although it is suggested that sections ask their full membership for comment regarding the proposed changes.
