I’m Carly, a Reference and Instruction Librarian at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. I am a Southern California native and my interests are in Information Literacy, moving image collections and preservation, literature, obscure pop culture, and Library Instruction. As a new professional in the field of Library and Information Science, I am happy my current position gives me the freedom to explore all areas of librarianship.
I initially made the decision to enter the field of Library and Information Science after looking for a career change. While the previous career I had was good enough, it wasn’t something I wanted to do for the long run. I began looking for a job, and very soon noticed a pattern in what jobs I was very interested in, all focusing around the field of Libraries and Archives. Being the adventurer I am, I applied to programs around the country and waited to see where my graduate school path would take me. August 2012 I packed up my life and moved to New York City to attend graduate school at the Pratt School of Information. I received my MLIS with a Certificate in Archival Studies in May of 2014. My current position is my first official job as an Information Professional.
