Charge: The composition and the duties of the Board of Directors are defined in Article IX of the ACRL Bylaws: Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall have general oversight and direction of the affairs of the Association. It shall conduct all business pertaining to the Association, and shall have authority to make decisions for the Association during the periods between meetings.
When:  Jan 27, 2021 from 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM (CT)

The ACRL Board of Directors will hold its meetings that typically occur during the Midwinter Meeting on January 25, 27, and 29, 2021. All meetings of the Board are open (except when discussions affecting the privacy of individuals, institutions, or the association are held). The agenda and documents for each meeting will be posted approximately one week prior to the meeting date in the Board Documents folder in  ALA Connect.

Open Microphone

The final thirty minutes of the first Board meeting is set aside for an "open microphone" session when any ACRL member may address the Board. The Board I meeting will be held on January 27, 2021, and members are invited to address the Board from 3:30–4:00 p.m. CST.

Board Requests

In addition to hosting an open microphone at Board I, members are also welcome to submit documents (e.g., petition to establish a new ACRL unit, funding request, resolution, task force report, etc.) for Board consideration. To submit a document, please follow the below steps by January 8, 2021.

  1. Complete a Board of Directors action form or discussion form working with your ACRL staff and Board liaisons. Requests for supplemental funding should comply with ACRL Policies and Procedures.
  2. Email your Board action form and supporting documents to apayne@ala.org with copy to your staff and Board liaisons by the deadline. If you need an extension, contact me in advance of the deadline so that space can be allocated in the draft Board meeting agenda.
  3. Please expect an email acknowledging receipt of your submission within two business days of submission.
