  • 1.  videos of anatomical procedure animations or functions/anatomy of body systems

    Posted Jan 31, 2024 08:32 PM

Professor needs help finding videos of anatomical procedure animations or functions/anatomy of body systems (e.g., rhinoplasty, cryotherapy, conduction system or blood flow in heart, etc.). They are currently using shorts from YouTube.

I'm willing to consider JoVE, but only as a last resort. Other ideas or places you've found good content?

    Thank you!

    Hi Annie,

These are the resources our faculty are using:

Acland's Video Atlas of Human Anatomy (Ovid/Lippincott) – annual subscription

    Anatomy.TV (Primal Pictures) – 1-time purchase (own)

Visible Body (purchased - 1-time purchase (own)

3D4 Medical from Elsevier (https://3d4medical.com/) – Students purchase on their own for $39.99

I believe the institutional counterpart is Complete Anatomy

Probably not what you're looking for, but we have this too: VH Dissector Site License – 1-time purchase w grant funds (own)

Keep in mind to test drive the mobile apps on smartphones and tablets. The desktop vs. app can be a different experience. The students like the 3D4 as it's easier to use on their devices.

    Sincerely,

    Liz

    Hi Annie,

I had forgotten that the library had a subscription to Thieme's Winking Skull anatomy resources. The instructor left the school so that I couldn't renew the subscription. Unsure how I forgot the Winking Skull and Thieme resources, as I had a student dress up as SNL's David Pumpkins dancing to the images of the Winking Skull in a lecture hall.

And I also forgot to mention that our surgical residents use JOMI: Journal of Medical Insight, peer-reviewed surgical videos. My medical students and residents love it. Warning: when you land on its website, it will open previews of surgical videos. You can purchase a subscription through your journal agent.

    Sincerely,
