Charge: ACRL’s Library EDI Committees Discussion Group seeks to provide a forum for practitioners, especially members of Library Diversity committees, to discuss EDI topics in academic libraries, and share resources useful to library workers engaged in EDI initiatives in libraries. They plan to work to support both library workers who are thinking about starting a diversity initiative and diversity committees that are already established.

Good morning, ACRL Library EDI Committee,

ALA invites you to attend Libraries Respond: Racial Healing and Transforming Communities through Mental Health Practices, a virtual panel discussion made up of ALA division leaders on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025 at 3pm CT. This panel is organized by the Office for Diversity, Literacy, and Outreach Services (ODLOS). The ninety-minute virtual event will begin with mental health professional Grace Le sharing her expertise on how mental health can impact our individual journeys towards racial healing. Following the presentation is a moderated panel that will share ALA leaders' perspectives and experiences on collective community healing towards racial equity and our roles in our library spaces.

Our panel will be moderated by the Committee on Diversity Chair, Nichelle Hayes. Our panelists include AASL President Becky Calzada, PLA President Michael Lambert, CSKBART Chair Janice Newsum, RUSA President Ilana Stonebraker, and ACRL Vice-President Brad Warren.

Registration is open and you can secure your spot by filling out the Zoom form to receive the webinar link. ALA hopes that you consider attending as part of your racial healing acknowledgment and practices.
