We are thrilled to announce the Call for Proposals for the 57th Annual Conference of the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA). This is an exciting opportunity for professionals, educators, researchers, and students engaged in the field of visual study to contribute to the ongoing discourse and share their insights, research, and innovations.
Key Dates:
- Call for Proposals Opens: March 1, 2025
- Submission Deadline: March 31, 2025
- Notification of Acceptance: May 15, 2025
This year's conference theme, "The Power of Images in Sacred and Festive Practices," invites proposals that explore the significance of images as conduits for cultural values, belief systems, and collective memories. We encourage submissions that examine how visual representation shapes and preserves traditions, fosters identity, and deepens our understanding of shared human experiences.
New this year, we are introducing a collaborative online forum featuring keynote speakers in advance of the in-person conference, setting the stage for deeper engagement. The on-site conference will take place from October 31st – November 2nd, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, a city renowned for its vibrant Día de Muertos celebrations.
The conference will include morning sessions and optional afternoon excursions, allowing attendees to explore the city and immerse themselves in the local culture.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to present their work to a global audience of visual literacy advocates and practitioners, fostering meaningful conversations and professional connections.
Don't miss this chance to contribute to the field and be part of an enriching international exchange of ideas. We look forward to receiving your proposals and welcoming you to IVLA 2025!
