The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Image Resources Discussion Group (IRDG) is seeking an Incoming Convener for July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.

Discussion Groups are designed to respond quickly to hot topics in the field. They are flexible groups that can meet informally through online discussions, or more formally through online meetings, presentations, or at annual conferences. IRDG topics revolve around the development and support of interdisciplinary image resources and the larger topic of visual literacy in academic libraries.

IRDG has a website and has worked closely with the ACRL Visual Literacy Task Force. Communications are hosted through the ALA Connect Community.

Membership of ACRL is required for this position for the duration of its term. The Convener has the opportunity to:

    • develop event programming and project plans
    • conceptualize and pursue IRDG initiatives and activities in support of member interests and ACRL's strategic plan
    • communicate with members, ACRL sections and leadership, and outside organizations
    • develop IRDG membership

This role is flexible and a great way to meet members also working in visual literacy and image resources support. It is a way to share work, resources, and learn from each other.

Please contact Sarah Huber at huber47@purdue.edu with your interest. I am happy to discuss the role and answer any questions. Thank you for considering this opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you!
