Artificial intelligence and decision-makers in academic libraries

  • 1.  Artificial intelligence and decision-makers in academic libraries

    Posted Mar 22, 2025 11:10 PM

    Hi all,

I am reaching out to request your support and participation in my study.  I am a  Ph. D. student at the School of Information Studies at Dominican University. I am conducting a research study to explore:

    1.     The factors academic library decision-makers in the United States consider when deciding to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technology.

    2.     The extent to which these decision-makers incorporate data privacy into their AI-related decisions.

This study employs an exploratory sequential mixed-methods research design, gathering insights from academic library decision-makers (ALDs) to understand the processes and steps involved in selecting and implementing AI tools in academic libraries.

Your insights are invaluable to this study. The survey takes approximately 7–10 minutes. The last day of the survey is updated to be April 5th. Your responses will remain confidential, and participation is entirely voluntary and uncompensated. You may withdraw at any time.

    Eligibility

You are invited to participate in the survey if you have experience as a dean, associate dean, director, or manager or if you have direct or indirect responsibility for selecting or adopting AI tools in your library. The survey is expected to take approximately 7-10 minutes to complete. If you are interested, please click here to take the survey.

Additionally, if you know others who might be interested in participating, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share this survey within your network.

This study has received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval at Dominican University. If you have any questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, please feel free to reach out to me at lhusseinmoustafa@my.dom.edu

Thank you in advance for your time and valuable insights!

    Best regards,

    Laila H. Moustafa
