    Dear ACRL Leaders,

I am writing today to invite you to the ACRL Leadership Council and Membership Meeting that will be held Friday afternoon in Washington, DC at the ALA Annual Conference. Prior to the meeting, you are also invited to attend the ACRL Leadership Council Community Social.

Please complete the RSVP survey by June 7 if you would like to attend!

Your leadership role in the association is essential to the work of our member-engaged organization. What you do in your committees, section activities, representatives and liaisons assemblies, interest groups, chapters, and discussion groups contributes to our being responsive to the current and future needs of our members. As member-leaders, we look to you for guidance on various strategic issues facing the association. Your participation and contributions at the Leadership Council and Membership Meeting contribute to the success of ACRL in advancing the Plan for Excellence.

Leadership Council convenes twice a year during the ALA Midwinter and Annual Conference meetings. The meetings provide a forum for ACRL member leaders to come together to chart ACRL's course.

During this year's Leadership Council and Membership Meeting at Annual, we are planning to address three areas: 1) a brief Membership Meeting to give you an update on ACRL initiatives, 2) a presentation from members of the ALA Steering Committee on Organizational Effectiveness (SCOE) to give an update on possible new models for the organization and to solicit your feedback on them, and 3) a short session designed to help us strengthen our role as allies. Your participation will be instrumental in continuing to guide the work of the association towards the needs and values of its members. We recognize that some of you may not be in attendance and are holding alternate, virtual meetings with your ACRL groups. If we are able to receive materials from the presenters in advance of the meeting, we will share them with you and let you know if there will be opportunities to provide feedback asynchronously on ALA's reorganization plans.

Please note that the sessions will be held at the Washington Hilton, which is about 2 miles from the Convention Center. If coming from the Convention Center, you may want to take the ALA Conference Route 1 Meeting Express Shuttle, which runs every 15-20 minutes.

I look forward to seeing you at the Leadership Council & Membership Meeting and working together with you on behalf of ACRL.  Questions?  Feel free to contact me or ACRL Executive Director Mary Ellen Davis at mdavis@ala.org.
