    UCF Connect Librarian

    Valencia Osceola and West Campuses

     

    The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks a full-time librarian to serve students online and at the joint-use libraries at the Valencia College Osceola and West campuses. As a Connect Campus librarian, the position reports to the UCF Head of Connect Campus Libraries and participates in both online library services and service delivery with college librarians in a shared facility.     Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include participation in all modes of reference, library instruction, outreach, and collection development for both university and college students. This position may also spend one or more days per week on the main campus in Orlando. Connect campus librarians maintain current knowledge of print and electronic resources, as well as procedures related to interlibrary loan and other library services. They also participate in regular online meetings and attend occasional meetings on the main campus in Orlando. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

     

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Master's degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
    • At least two years of library experience after receiving the ALA-accredited master's degree

    Preferred:

    • Experience with academic, branch campus, joint-use, or distance learning librarianship
    • Strong technology skills including demonstrated experience with courseware, conferencing and collaboration software, social media, web design, multimedia production, and emerging technologies
    • Evidence of active participation in information literacy and instruction programs; experience in design or assessment of online instructional materials or tutorials
    • Experience in delivery of reference services in both face-to-face and online environments
    • Experience supporting faculty or students in one or more of the following subjects: architecture, business, education, engineering, nursing, or psychology
    • Demonstrated commitment to public service and outreach for a variety of constituents
    • Evidence of initiative, flexibility, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Demonstrated involvement in professional research and service activities

     

    Environment: With more than 71,000 students, the University of Central Florida is the largest university by enrollment in Florida and one of the largest universities in the nation, offering 189 bachelor's and master's, and 32 doctoral programs. The UCF Libraries houses a collection of 2 million volumes and 68,000 serials and is a partial depository for government documents and patents.     Salary and Rank: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position with insurance and retirement benefits, 22 paid annual days, 13 sick days, 9 holidays, and no state income tax.
