    This month, we welcome our guest speakers:

     

    Mihoko Hosoi  Professional bio (LinkedIn):

    Mihoko Hosoi is the Associate Dean for Collections, Research, and Scholarly Communications at the Pennsylvania State University Libraries, and is responsible for managing over 100 employees and approximately $18 million in collections budget. She has over 20 years of experience developing and managing academic libraries, earlier at the California Digital Library (CDL), Stanford, Cornell, UC Santa Barbara, and Duke. Prior to her library career, she worked in the airline and hotel industry in Japan. She has a Master of Management in Hospitality degree from Cornell, an M.L.S. from UNC Chapel Hill, and a B.A. in Spanish from Seisen University, Tokyo. She is currently working toward her PhD at Penn State. Her research focuses on gendered racism and inequality regimes in higher education. 

     

    Nancy S. Kirkpatrick Professional bio (LinkedIn):

    Nancy S. Kirkpatrick is the Executive Director and CEO of OhioNet. She has over a decade of experience working in and with libraries, including as the Director of Library Services at Marian University Indianapolis. A 2005 Spectrum Scholar, she holds appointments on ALA's Spectrum Advisory Board (2020-2022) and the Diversity Research Grants Committee (2020-2022). Her research and writing interests include managing through change, authentic leadership, and organizational design, especially as examined through an appreciative inquiry (AI) lens. Before entering librarianship, Nancy practiced non-profit law and advocacy. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond, and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

     

    Gwen Evans Professional bio (LinkedIn):

    Gwen Evans is the VP of Global Library Relations at Elsevier.  She was previously the Executive Director of OhioLINK and Associate Professor and Coordinator of Library Information and Emerging Technologies at Bowling Green State University. Evans has led major initiatives on the consortial level including academic content negotiations, statewide affordable textbook initiatives and was the founder of OhioLINK's Workforce Diversity Initiative. She is the co-author with Roger Schonfeld of Ithaka S+R's Issue Brief "It's Not What Libraries Hold; It's Who Libraries Serve Seeking a User-Centered Future for Academic Libraries", author of several guest posts on the Scholarly Kitchen, and guest editor of a special issue of Against the Grain on Affordable Learning among other publications. She has a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the iSchool at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.
