Summer 2013 Fellowships for Current Library Students!
The Dance Heritage Coalition (DHC) is delighted to announce the second year of Fellowships in Preservation and Archives for master’s degree students in library / information sciences. The DHC’s fellowship program gives master's students intensive training and practice in the skills needed to work in dance-related archives and libraries. Funding is supported by a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program.
We appreciate assistance in identifying strong candidates for this opportunity – you might be aware of students with an interest in the arts who would blossom with this kind of challenge. Although the first screening will involve only a letter of application and resume, please be in touch if you want to alert us to a candidate whom you deem especially deserving or a good fit.
Potential host archive sites for the seven fellows are the Theatre Research Institute at The Ohio State University, the Dance Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and the Dance Notation Bureau in New York, the Museum of Performance & Design in San Francisco, the American Dance Festival archives in Durham, North Carolina, Arizona State University’s Cross-Cultural Dance Resources in Tempe, the Library of Congress Music Division, the Newberry Library in Chicago, UCLA’s special collections in Los Angeles, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival archives in Becket, Massachusetts.
