What strategies do you exercise to encourage faculty/employees to return library material in a timely manner? Summarizing responses from a 2023 "Faculty Borrowing" post, this is what others shared.
-
Amherst uses 1-year loans that auto-renew. "We have generous loan periods and minimal contact to maximize the response when we do reach out."
-
According to Strayer's University Librarian, they escalate tickets to faculty supervisors during/after employment.
-
Notice of any kind for departing faculty is uneven and libraries reach out to the faculty member's department or supervisor to see if they can get forwarding information.
Care to share additional strategies or ideas? We just want to get our materials back so that they're available for student use.
Thanks,
Paige
