In my 16 years as a librarian, I have had 6 jobs and moved 6 times for new positions with increased challenges and responsibilities. The way forward for me as a librarian, was to find new challenges and new environments that allowed me to thrive. I have worked in academic, corporate, and public libraries. Each has benefits and challenges, but how do you find a job that prepares you for the next move? This round table topic will help you think about moving on and moving up when the opportunities are few and far away.
About the Presenter:
Previously she was an associate health sciences librarian at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. She is Akimel O'otham/Pima and a member of the Gila River Indian Community. Ms. Bishop received her Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington iSchool in 2010. Following her graduation from UW, she took her first job as the Librarian in Residence at University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Her work experience specializes in health sciences, engineering, and technical information. She has worked as an academic Science and Engineering Librarian and a corporate Research Librarian.
