ACRL Artificial Intelligence (AI) Interest Group

  • 1.  Agentic AI Discussion

    Posted 17 days ago

Join the ACRL AI Interest Group on October 19, 2026, 1pm-2pm eastern time for a presentation about agentic AI, followed by discussion. People often hear the words "Agentic AI" and feel like they will lose control of their computer. While computer-use agentic programs are one type of agentic artificial intelligence, it is not the only type. Participants will see two separate agentic workflows, both within the Copilot web app. One compiling a Word document from separate documents, and another creating an editable PowerPoint template.

Griffin Engel will present on this topic, followed by a discussion. Griffin is most interested in how end users think about and interact with generative AI in all contexts, especially prompting (text, file, or verbal) as it is the basis of all gen AI interaction. In his two years so far at Des Moines Area Community College, he has helped write a college-wide faculty AI guide and develop a generative AI gen-ed course. Outside the library, you can find him in the gym, learning a new skill, or researching keyboards and quality stationary.
