  • 1.  Expression of Interest: 2022 Library Assessment Conference Steering Committee

    Posted Aug 25, 2021 04:23 PM

    With apologies for duplication,

    Assessment Colleagues,

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and the University of Washington Libraries (UW) will continue to jointly plan and co-sponsor the Library Assessment Conference (LAC), with the next conference planned for Fall 2022.  The conference steering committee plays an important role in conference direction and support. Conference co-chairs Steve Hiller (UW) and Nancy Turner (Temple University) are seeking 2022 LAC committee members who are passionate about assessment and experienced with conference planning.  We are committed to diversity and addressing structural inequity and encourage applicants who address those principles.

The LAC steering committee serves under the direction of the conference co-chairs and will also work closely with an excellent planning team at ARL. Key responsibilities of steering committee members include the following:

    1. Participate in conference program planning and meetings, virtual and in-person.
    2. Review proposal submissions and participate in proposal selection meeting
    3. Provide logistical support at the conference as needed
    4. Help promote the conference to the library community
    5. Make final decision on content including keynotes, presentations, and other events
    6. Recommend Library Assessment Career Achievement Awardee

The time commitment for a steering committee member will be an average of 4 to 8 hours per month. The term for this position will begin as soon as it is filled and will end at the conclusion of the Library Assessment Conference in late 2022. Conference fees are waived for Committee members and, if there is an in-person conference, transportation and three nights lodging will be covered.

    How to Apply

Applicants are asked to express their interest and to indicate in a brief paragraph, why this committee is of particular interest in advancing their work and that of the assessment community, and to indicate how their contributions reflect ARL's guiding principles, specifically as they relate to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism. Please provide this information, as well as other pertinent information, using this form. You can also use the form to nominate someone else and we will send them the EOI notice with the link to the application form. The deadline for submissions is September 10th.

Please contact Steve Hiller or Nancy Turner if you have any questions.
