    Generally the document is fine...

however I have concerns about Force11.  Who are they and are they sanctioned by ALA?  I see they have 2760 members, which indicates to me that they are fairly small (although they may be mighty).  But what makes them "experts" for us as ALA to follow?
Are there not standards from more well know bodies that we can emulate?

I would like this information before I approve.

    Hi Katherine,

Thank you so much for the great question.   FORCE11 stands for The Future of Research Communications and e-Scholarship.  FORCE11 grew out of the FORC Workshop held in Dagstuhl, Germany in August 2011. Hence, the "11" is in FORCE11. The most famous and universal standard for data management and stewardship was FAIR Principles, which were fine-tuned and improved by several members of the FORCE11 community.

Another standard came out of FORCE11 was Data Citation Principles, which were used by the ACRL policy statement with citation information.  If we removed the citation, we can't use the Data Citation Principles in the text.

I have been active in research data management, follow its development nationally and internationally and know some of the founding members of FORCE11.  They are authoritative.  It will increase credibility of the ACRL policy statement.

    Thanks a lot!

    Amanda

I vote yes.  We got 10 votes for approval before April 6, 2019.  SC approved ACRL Policy Statement on Open Access to Scholarship by Academic Librarians and its accompanied transmittal form on April 6, 2019.  The next step is for Kim to work with David for the Board approval.  Thanks a lot!
