Hello committee members,
I attend the Instruction Section Exec meeting this morning, and I wanted to give some pertinent updates for the Instruction in the Disciplines committee and guide.
First, there is no information on when we will have a full IS website again. You may have seen the limited temporary site they developed. The exec team expressed great frustration with this but couldn't offer updates. They intend to investigate if the back-end content is accessible to anyone and if they believe that the content will eventually be ported. I did check the Wayback Machine, and it does look like the site was indexed in May, so at least we can pull content from there if worse comes to worst.
There was a suggestion in the interim to request to utilize the ACRL LibGuides platform. I think this would be an excellent solution for our guide and potentially better for the committee in the long run. They also discussed creating and using a single committee email (which we talked about in our last meeting) as a log-in for LibGuides to keep the number of users down. The exec team will follow with me when they find out if this is possible. There is not much that we can do with no access to a platform to work with.
With that in mind, we will postpone any meetings until we hear back about these options. I'll let you know as soon as I hear more.
