update on ACRL 2021

    Hi everyone!

In the wake of a message from Jose earlier today, I reached out to Beth McNeil, chair of the ACRL 2021 conference, to follow-up on the correspondence from back in June.

I don't know how many of the committees are being co-chaired by CJCLS members - I hope that there will still be one or two - but she and I communicated about getting community college library workers on the component committees.  She shared with me the current spreadsheet of volunteers, and I am pleased to say that we are stepping up on our end of things:  over thirty of our members have volunteered.  That's not to say everyone will get a committee posting, of course, but we are giving the committee chairs a good pool from which to draw.  I'm encouraged to see familiar names in the spreadsheet, and I am encouraged even more to see names I don't know.  It's good to have new voices in the mix!

Component committee chairs have until August 9 to form their committees, so it is not too late to get involved.  I supplied Beth with a handful of names, and I can pass along any of yours as well.

I also thanked her for hearing us and working on fixing a situation as we perceived it.

We'll keep making noise.  And we'll keep contributing, because that's our obligation in return.  :-)

    Thanks everyone!
    Peter

    Greetings Everyone!
I wanted to share that I have been appointed to the ACRL 2021 Poster Sessions Committee. I applied before I became a candidate for ACRL Council.
I am looking forward to participating on this committee.

Congratulations, Jose.  You will represent us well!  I am just hoping it is not the 2012 ACRL Conference. J
