Do all of you sponsor your state's book awards program? We administer Indiana's Young Hoosier Book Awards, and have recently had members request that we change our policy of allowing members to serve just two years, including the chairs. We have done this in order to allow more people to participate.  Members may sit out a year and come back on if there are openings.

Are there other "popular" committees where you have had to limit terms?

In Colorado and Texas you are on for three years. Your first year you are finding how the committee runs then the second and third year is easier for you. I would rather be on committees for two or three years. Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone

South Carolina (SCASL) sponsors/manages the state book awards.

Book award members are a two year term; however, chairs are three year terms.

Everyone used to be three years, but it seemed to be more of a difficulty to commit so a change was made.  You must wait a year after serving before you can join another book award committee.
