    Colleen S. Harris is an assistant professor and Head of Access Services at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Lupton Library. Her work involves assessing, improving, and implementing services, coaching and managing staff, and liaising with the campus community to provide a better library experience for users. As the former associate head of access and delivery services at the North Carolina State University Libraries, she has experiencing managing public service departments large and small – in terms of both staff and budget. A former reference and instruction librarian, her articles have appeared in Library Journal, Journal of Access Services, The Bottom Line: Managing Library Finances, and she has authored book chapters in The Frugal Librarian: Thriving in Tough Economic Times (American Library Association, 2011), Teaching Generation M: A Handbook for Librarians and Educators (Neal-Schuman, 2009) and Writing and Publishing: The Librarian’s Handbook (American Library Association, 2009). She has presented on management and staff development at ALA Annual, Computers in Libraries, Internet Librarian, Brick & Click Academic Library Symposium, Access Services conference, and various others. Her professional interests include academic library leadership and administration, information literacy and research training for undergraduate and graduate students, library involvement in student retention, and human resources issues related to academic librarianship.
