    Courtney Young is currently Head Librarian & Associate Professor of Women's Studies at Penn State Greater Allegheny. She received her M.S. in Library Science from Simmons College. She is a past president of the ALA New Members Round Table. in 2009 Courtney was elected to ALA's Executive Board. Her 2009-2012 term on the board began in July of that year. Courtney was selected as a Library Journal 2011 Mover & Shaker. Courtney has presented papers, published articles, chapters in books,encyclopedia entries and book reviews in the areas of academic librarianship, diversity, African American studies, women's studies, and virtual reference. Courtney is often described as a "social butterfly". She enjoys taking pictures, shopping, listening to music, playing video games, and hanging out with friends. She has lived in cities across the United States as well as in South Korea and Turkey.

    At PSU Greater Allegheny, responsible for all library operations including budgets and staff supervision. Provide reference and research mentoring, library instruction, and collection development at the campus library. Provide multidisciplinary chat reference as a part of the Virtual Reference Service team. Develop and evaluate collections, resources, and services in support of the University’s diversity initiatives. (2010-present) Previous positions at Penn State included Reference Librarian at PSU Beaver (2004-2010) and Social Sciences Librarian at PSU University Park (2002-2004).
