ALCTS Interest Groups (Association for Library Collections & Technical Services)

Provides a forum for discussing development and implementation of automated acquisitions/in-process control systems in libraries.

ANMIG seeks to cultivate the new members of ALCTS  by capitalizing on existing ALCTS initiatives and ALCTS veterans  to develop pathways for inclusion of new members into the ALCTS organization and a realization of the value of their contributions to the organization.

Discussion of matters related to the conversion of analog (or older born-digital) collections to digital formats. Specific topics may include: care and handling, stabilization, vendor out-sourcing, in-house conversion (equipment and software), derivatives, and deliverables for content ingest to enterprise systems. Reports to the PARS Preservation Standards & Practices Committee.

Provides a forum for exchanging information and discussing issues related to public library technical services functions. Open to all librarians interested in technical services activities, including acquisitions, cataloging and classification, processing, preservation and bindery activities, and technical services management.

Provides a forum to educate the library community on the MARC formats, their purposes, uses, developments and implementation; encourages the use and implementation of the formats.

Provides a forum for discussion of issues and new developments in preservation supplies and equipment; conservation treatments; environment controls; and paper quality.

Keep the issues surrounding the access to continuing resources (e.g., pricing models and licensing issues) in the forefront of discussion; encourage collaborative partnerships between librarians, publishers, and vendors that will foster the evolution of continuing resources; and ensure open forums that will provide productive avenues of communication and education within the diverse library community to ensure equitable access to continuing resources.

Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) Preservation Issues in Small to Mid-Sized Libraries Interest Group

Provides a forum for discussion of preservation instruction, education and outreach; shares materials, strategies and expertise; and fosters the development of new educational and promotional activities.

Discusses the various issues involved with cataloging, classification, and authority control after the initial cataloging has been performed. Provides a forum for exchanging information and discussing techniques, new developments, and problems in managing the bibliographic integrity of library catalogs.
