Meets and discusses informally problems within the field of technical services which are common to the administration of large research libraries.

To recognize annually an academic or law librarian who, through research, other creative activity, or service to the profession, makes distinguished contributions to bibliography and information service in law or political science.

Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS) Task Force on "Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Academic Libraries"

To collect, analyze and distribute comparative information on North American academic science and technology libraries.

By collaborating with various organizations, making presentations, and otherwise disseminating information, the committee promotes academic librarianship as a career path for individuals with foreign language skill.

To promote the implementation and use of ACRL standards/guidelines and relevant best practice statements for college and mediumsized academic libraries; identify and track new concerns that arise regarding these documents; investigate mechanisms for evaluating these documents for continuous improvement; disseminate information about best practices through a variety of media;

To study, promote, and support the role of business reference in academic libraries.
