Per the Division Leadership Manual, the committee is expected to annually review its function statement to ensure the charge meets the responsibilities of the priority group area, recent changes to the professional environment, and facilitates the implementation of the ALSC Strategic Plan. When did you last review it with your committee? Note: Recommendations for changes should be submitted to Organization & Bylaws. :

Chair has sent information about upcoming meeting at ALA Midwinter 2018. Three members plus chair will be in attendance; one member would like to call in on speaker.

March, April, and May Suggestion Lists proposed and compiled. Various discussions between chair and PGC on the eligibility of titles. Basic prep started for the 2014 Annual Meeting

No real discussion/decisions (as per the guidelines for award committees). The bulk of the discussions/decisions will take place at ALA Annual in June.

Please describe the activities or resources the committee has created since the last report that have specifically supported and furthered ALSC’s Strategic Plan? http://www.ala.org/alsc/aboutalsc/stratplan*:

We have been diligently working to compile the most comprehensive list possible of beginning readers as to have the best resources available to choose the most outstanding beginning reader(s) for this award, to support Objective 5 in Education - identifying and promoting the finest in resources for libraries serving children.

Technology is component of ALSC core competencies. Please describe how your committee has incorporated or adapted technology into the committee work that you do and resources/information you have developed.:

All communication is done through e-mail. Many of the committee members are using electronic methods to track the books they have received, and to rate/review the books.

Please list other ALSC committees you think you could be collaborate with on issues or projects to help further your work::

There could always be more publicity brought to the less well-known ALSC awards - through CAL articles, advertising to libraries, posters/publicity, etc.
