2010 Emerging Leaders Updates

Hello to all fellow 2010 Emerging Leaders, a few things to let you know about:

We have a facebook group. It is a CLOSED group so only members of the 2010 class can join: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=165586907738

For anyone who is around the Thursday night before we start (14th), Darcel set up a little ice breaker and anyone who wants to attend can come with us to watch the CELTICS vs BULLS at the Boston Garden! Please call the Celtics Sales Office at 866-4CELTIX and mention that you are a member of the ALA EMERGING LEADERS group to purchase a ticket and chill with us. We have a small but enthusiatic group going.

The Friday night after (15th) we are going to be having an unwinding social event. It is NOT mandatory that you attend, but I have a feeling most of us will want to! The event starts at 7pm and from 9pm-on, past EL alumni will join us for a big meetup/reunion/networking session. It will be fun and informal. We narrowed down the places to host it to http://jjfoleyscafe.com/ or http://www.districtboston.com/ Please let ME know what works for you.

Thanks for listening! JP

As an addition to the events that JP posted, some of the ELs who aren't planning to go to the Celtics game are talking about having dinner on Thursday night, and then heading over to Harp to meet up with the Celtics group.  More details are on the FB discussion page.

Laura,

I am leaning toward skipping the sixty dollar Celtics game and meeting up with the other Emerging Leaders instead. Please count me in and let me know what you are planning.  Celtic games can be intense and I am not too keen on picking up my ticket at will call. Please call or email me. Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks,
Ken Kozel

P.S. JP my vote is for JFoley's Pub.

Count me in for the alternative dinner event.  I'm flying in across the country (from Anchorage) so if planes are delayed, I'd hate to be out the money for the Celtics game.  The Cheers bar sounds fun!  See you there!

On the FB board, 7 seemed to be a good time for everyone. If we have at least 15 people we need to call ahead. So please let me know on here or FB if you'll make it and I'll make the reservation. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Laura Amos's picture

I'll be there, Stephanie.

Faith Mulberry's picture

Stephanie,

Thanks for making the reservation...you can count me in for Cheers at 7pm!

I'm ambitious and may try to do both, but count me in for the Cheer's bar. Thx for volunteering to organize.

Hi Stephanie,

My husband and I plan to join the group at Cheers at 7!  It's the original Beacon St. location, right?  Thanks for making the reservation!

Nicole

Thanks for asking that Nicole. Yes, we are meeting at the original location at 84 Beacon St.

I'll be there for dinner.  Thank you Stephanie for making all the arrangements.  I can't wait to meet everyone.

JP: I second the vote for JJ Foley's.
Laura: I'm game for the alternate dinner event. I've never been to Boston, so I'm up for wherever.

We've been talking about having dinner at the Cheers bar.  We haven't decided on a time yet, but we're thinking around 6-7ish.  Here's the website for Cheers:  http://www.cheersboston.com/pub/main_home.html.  We'll be going to the original (not the replica).

One of my favorite sitcoms!  Way to go - please count me in.  I believe I will do my post Christmas shopping at their gift store. Thanks again to JP, Darcel, and Laura for taking the initiative on planning events. You folks are great!

Thanks Ken, but I can't take the credit for planning the Cheers dinner.  It came about from some others that are in the Facebook group.  Looking forward to seeing you at Cheers!

I'm up for dinner Thursday night...  I contemplated the Celtics game but I'm not a huge basketball fan though I know that a Bulls v. Celtics game would be awesome.

Hi all.... I'd love to meet you all at Dinner on Thursday night.  Can I bring my roommate?  Not really interested in the Celtics game but dinner Friday night sounds good too!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing some old friends in our group as well (Hi Toni and Natalie!)

JP,

Has the location for thr "after game party" on Thursday been decided? If not, is the District an option for that night?

Hi Kirby,

I think the after-game party is going to be at Harp.  Is that correct, JP?

Unfortunately, I don't have a Facebook account (I know its hard to believe, but we have been "strongly advised" by our school district to not have such accounts).

Could you please keep us posted on the Thursday and Friday night events via this forum?

Thanks, Amy

Hi Lynda!

Perhaps we should throw a super-exclusive Project P Party; the very fact that it alliterates makes it an irresistible idea. :-)

I talked to the manager at Cheers, and he's going to give us a large area in the backroom. If you are planning to come, please RSVP by today so that we can get a final number. 28 people have said they are coming; I told him we may have a few more than that, but he needs advance warning if the other 70 or so librarians decide they want to come to :)
