The ACRL Image Resources Interest Group (IRIG) will be meeting for the first time at ALA Midwinter in Boston on Saturday, Jan 16, 4:00-5:30 (location TBA). We’d like to kick off this first meeting with a few brief member presentations on image resources in your library.
If you have experience developing or supporting interdisciplinary image resources in academic libraries, we invite you to share with your colleagues at the IRIG meeting. How are images acquired, managed, delivered, supported, funded, and used in your institution? How do you meet patrons’ needs for quality image resources and tools to support their use? We’d like to hear about your experiences with images as we build our community of practice in ACRL.
Talks should be brief (10 minutes) and highlight current innovations, practices, tools, or issues. The format will be informal with ample time for Q&A and discussion.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Subscription image databases; Digital asset management and presentation tools; Working with images across systems and platforms; Supporting faculty research and teaching with images; Developing interdisciplinary image collections; Collaborating with academic departments and across library units; Image cataloging and metadata; Access to image resources through library web sites; Visual literacy; Image copyright; Digital capture
To submit a proposal, please email us a brief description of your proposed topic by Dec 4th.
Thank you for your participation!
