Post Librarian Resume.
by Susan Stanko on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 10:35am
My name is Susan Stanko and I am a Reference Librarian at the Chicago Heights Public Library. I am looking to move back to Wisconsin. I'm not the at picky about what department I end up in. I have attached both my Resume and Cover Letter. I would like suggestions on how to improve one or both. Thanks.

Hi, Susan.
I have spent some time on your cover letter and your resume. Your cover letter is great! It is concise, yet will make the HR person want to talk to you.
With your information above your name, it makes your resume unique which is desired when the HR person is examining so many resumes for a position. The only change I would make is to make the font a larger size for your name, justto make it more pronounced.
Best of luck!!
Adrian
Thank you!

How much bigger? I don't want to make it to big.

Susan,
I agree with the previous commenter that your letter is well written. I'd also advise that you should tailor the letter to the specific position you are applying for. Employers can tell when a "boilerplate" letter is being used. For example, in this letter you use Assistant Director/Department Head as the position. When applying for that sort of position, you should focus on leadership and management skills.
You posted these documents two months ago, so don't know if you'll see this.
